Oriole Landscaping - Skilled Labourer

Oriole Landscaping is a mid-town Toronto design/build firm that focuses on high-end residential installations. Oriole has been working diligently for over 38 years in the industry and continues to refine its business culture, landscape construction and horticultural maintenance processes.

Job Summary

The skilled labourer will perform tasks involving landscape construction and softscapes. The job will include the operation of hand tools, power tools and heavy machinery to create beautiful landscapes, structures, and side features.

Key Responsibilities

  • Masonry
    • Construct retaining walls, steps, plinths, flagstone, and brick walls
  • Precast
    • Retaining walls, and paved surfaces
  • Carpentry
    • Construct fences, decks, outdoor wood structures
  • Machine Operations
    • Operates skid steers, track loaders, excavators, and other large power tools
  • Communicate with equipment-operators using visual and audio signals to facilitate alignment, movement or adjustment of machinery, equipment or materials
  • On-the-job training and instructions will be provided for all tasks.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is an asset
  • Landscape construction experience is an asset

Skills & Competencies

  • Attention to detail: job requires being careful about detail and
    thoroughness in completing work tasks
  • Dependability: must be reliable, responsible and dependable in
    fulfilling obligations
  • Communication: able to respond to requests in a timely manner via e-mail to the Crew Leader and/or Operations Manager

Working Conditions

This is a full-time, seasonal position with the opportunity for a non-seasonal position should it become available. Employees will be working outdoors in all types of weather. The workday starts at 7am on site, occasionally at 6:30 am at the yard. Hours will range from 45 to 55 per week, Monday to Friday and optional Saturdays. The company works to provide long weekends off for all employees.

This position is highly physical and requires the applicant to lift weights of up to 50lbs and includes frequent repetitive tasks.
