Mike discovered his love for landscape construction and gardening while working in the industry during his summer breaks from university. He attended Saint Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia and received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. During those years he developed his love of transforming outdoor spaces into unique and useable retreats. This led him to Fanshawe College where he received his diploma for Landscape Design, learning the different style techniques and their origins. Fanshawe also taught the wide variety of plant species and construction methods. He spent one semester studying oversees in Italy, travelling from the Northern gardens of Milan, to the rolling hills of Florence and the rich gardens of the elites of Rome.
Mike enjoys being active in his spare time snowboarding, playing hockey and baseball. He also enjoys a good HBO series and also spending time with friends and family.
